About this Novel
In a lively household, a 27-year-old man, Ahzad, sleeps peacefully in his room, wrapped in a blanket, exuding calm. His serene slumber is shattered when his younger sister, Huzda, a spirited girl, bursts in, screaming about a "rat" in Ado Megadi’s room, mistaking Ahzad’s bedroom for her brother Sultan’s. Startled, Huzda recoils at Ahzad’s groggy gaze, realizing her mistake, and flees in embarrassment. She collides with Sultan, who teases her for her mix-up but agrees to investigate the "rat" with her, amused by her panic. They enlist their aunt, Asabe, to prepare sobo before confronting the creature. Rushing to Ado Megadi’s room, they discover not a rat but a massive burgu (snake), trapped and frantic after entering the room. Chaos erupts as the snake lunges, chasing Sultan and Huzda, who scream and flee. Ado Megadi, alerted, informs their mother, who’s just stepped out of the kitchen. She urgently calls Ahzad to intervene, dismissing his playful skepticism about Sultan wrestling a snake. Ahzad, with his calm, sweet voice, takes charge, entering the room where he finds Huzda fainted and Sultan battered from the snake’s bites—three in total, two on his leg, one on his arm.
