The figure she saw in the yard replayed in her mind like a haunting nightmare. Red eyes, disheveled hair, and a terrifying grin with teeth that seemed almost inhuman. The sound of footsteps filled the air, drawing closer to her room. Her heart pounded louder, and she bit her lip to prevent any sound from escaping. The figure was now right outside her door. Panic surged through her veins, and she clutched the blanket tighter, trying to hide herself further. The door handle rattled, and she held her breath. The door slowly creaked open, revealing a dark silhouette. It felt like time stood still, and all she could do was watch in horror.
